Indonesia charges tourists IDR 25,000 per stop in Nusa Penida as of Aug. 1

Nusa Penida tourists now pay IDR 25,000 ($1.50) per major attraction, on top of the island’s existing entry charge.

IDR 25,000 at every attraction

The per-destination levy took effect Aug. 1 under Klungkung Regency Regulation No. 4/2026. It applies separately at Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, Broken Beach, Crystal Bay, Teletubbies Hill and the Molenteng and Thousand Island Viewpoint area.

Klungkung calls the system “One Gate One Destination.” Tour operators have reported cancellations from cost-sensitive travelers after disclosing the higher trip totals, The Bali Times reported.

The current fee stack

The updated system separates the tourism-area charge from tickets collected at individual attractions:

• Foreign adults: IDR 25,000 ($1.50) tourism-area fee

• Foreign children: IDR 15,000 (90 cents), with infants ages 0 to 3 admitted free

• Domestic tourists and Bali ID holders: No tourism-area fee

• All tourists: IDR 25,000 per listed attraction

The tourism-area fee covers Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Ceningan. Foreign nationals remain classified as foreign tourists even when they hold a KITAS or KITAP, a distinction relevant to Indonesia’s residency rules.

These charges are separate from Bali’s IDR 150,000 ($9.25) foreign tourist levy, private-site tickets and marine activity fees.

A four-stop day costs five times more

A foreign nomad making one four-stop Nusa Penida trip in a month would pay IDR 125,000 ($7.70) in local public levies: IDR 25,000 at entry plus IDR 100,000 across four attractions. That’s five times the previous IDR 25,000 local charge or a 400% increase for that itinerary.

Some tour packages include the entry fee, but operators may now need to collect destination charges separately or revise advertised prices. Travelers should check exactly which levies a booking covers before paying.
