Indonesia could double its airport Visa on Arrival fee from Rp500,000 (about $31) to Rp1 million ($62), though the increase remains a proposal.

Online applicants would pay less

The proposed structure would charge different prices based on where travelers apply:

  • Current fee: Rp500,000 ($31) online or at an entry point

  • e-VOA before departure: Rp750,000 ($46), a 50% increase

  • Visa on Arrival at entry: Rp1 million ($62), a 100% increase

The higher airport price is meant to push travelers toward online applications and reduce congestion at entry points, Director General of Immigration Silmy Karim said. Officials have also linked the proposal to higher non-tax state revenue.

For a nomad couple buying visas after landing, one entry would cost Rp2 million ($124) instead of Rp1 million ($62). Each traveler, including infants and children, needs a separate visa.

The current fee remains in place

Indonesia hasn’t published a regulation or implementation date for the proposed prices. The government’s official eVisa portal still lists the Visitor Visa and e-VOA fee at Rp500,000 ($31).

The visa permits a 30-day stay and can be extended once for another 30 days. It is single-entry and must be used within 90 days of issuance. These terms are separate from long-stay permits covered in Stamped Nomad’s guide to Indonesia’s residency rules.

Online applicants need a passport valid for at least six months, a passport photo, an email address and a Mastercard, Visa or JCB payment card. Card or bank charges may apply. Travelers with near-term trips should check the official eVisa portal before paying because the proposed tariff won’t become binding until Indonesia formally adopts it.
