Use only .gov.vn sites for Vietnam e-visa applications

A convincing copycat website can leave a Vietnam-bound traveler at airline check-in or immigration without valid entry authorization because private operators have no authority to issue visas.

Vietnam’s official e-visa portals

Foreign visitors applying online should use only evisa.gov.vn or thithucdientu.gov.vn. Both government portals have operated under Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security since Nov. 11, 2024.

Copycat sites can look official

Fraudulent websites often imitate government branding and may appear prominently in search results or paid advertisements, the Immigration Department said. Recent travel-security reports describe increasingly polished versions built with AI-generated text, translated content and cloned layouts, though formal government notices refer more broadly to fake and illegal websites.

A .com, .net, .org or other non-.gov.vn address isn’t an official Vietnamese government portal. Applicants should type one of the two official addresses directly into the browser rather than following a search advertisement or social media link. That reduces the risk of paying fake fees or handing passport data to an unauthorized operator.

Fees and processing

The official application requires passport details, proposed travel dates and entry point, a scan of the passport photo page and an ID-style photograph. Applicants receive a dossier code, then pay through the portal’s electronic payment gateway.

The government fees are $25 for a single-entry e-visa or $50 for a multiple-entry e-visa, with stays of up to 90 days. Standard processing generally takes three to five working days.

Vietnam’s Immigration Department doesn’t sell guaranteed approval, paid priority handling or official one- or two-day express processing. Websites advertising those options are private services or possible scams, not government channels.
