Understanding Indonesia's Visa-Free Entry for Brazil and Turkey
Indonesia has expanded its visa-free (BVK) regime to include citizens of Brazil and Turkey under a reciprocal policy. Travelers from these nations will be able to enter Indonesia for short-term stays without a visa fee or prior application starting in 2026.
Understanding Indonesia's Visa-Free Entry for Brazil and Turkey
Indonesia currently offers visa-free entry to citizens of Brazil and Turkey, a policy established to simplify travel for short-term visitors. Formalized through Ministry of Immigration and Corrections Regulation No. 10 of 2025, the move reflects a reciprocal agreement as both nations already allow Indonesian citizens to enter without a visa. This puts Brazil and Turkey in a select group of countries, including Peru and several Southeast Asian nations, that enjoy streamlined access to the archipelago.
The policy is designed specifically for short-term stays of up to 30 days. It is important to note that this permit is rigid; it cannot be extended beyond the initial month, nor can it be converted into a different residency permit while you are in the country. Travelers must enter through designated immigration checkpoints, such as major international airports and seaports, where they will undergo standard biometric verification.
Who is eligible
The visa-free facility applies to all holders of valid Brazilian and Turkish passports. The Indonesian government has approved this entry method for several specific purposes:
- General tourism and sightseeing
- Business meetings and commercial discussions
- Medical treatment
What digital nomads should know
While this is excellent news for a quick scouting trip or a short holiday, this policy does not accommodate long-term remote work. The 30-day stay explicitly excludes employment, education, and journalistic assignments.
Digital nomads planning to stay longer than a month or those establishing a more permanent base should avoid the visa-free route. Instead, you should look into alternative options like the B211A visa or other long-term permits that allow for extensions and legal remote work status. For those just passing through, there are no applications or fees required; you simply present your passport at the border to receive your 30-day entry stamp.
