UAE processes tourist visas in 48 hours for 200 dirhams

Dubai's 48-hour tourist visa standard
Dubai's General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) processes 30-day and 60-day single-entry tourist visas within roughly 48 working hours once documents are correctly submitted. The completion window is now embedded in the official service definition on GDRFA's portal, not flagged as a temporary push.
Sponsorship still runs through a UAE-based tourism establishment, with applications routed via the GDRFA website, the GDRFA DXB app, accredited tourism offices, UAE airlines, licensed travel agencies and hotel partners. Weekends, public holidays and peak travel periods can slow the clock, so the 48-hour mark is a target, not a guarantee.
Who benefits from the faster turnaround
Short-lead tourists, family visitors and business travelers from nationalities that require a visa for UAE entry gain the most, including applicants from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, the UK, US, Canada and Australia, though final eligibility depends on nationality and sponsor.
Remote workers and prospective expats scouting Dubai for a longer move can run tighter reconnaissance trips, viewing co-working space, meeting relocation advisers or opening preliminary bank conversations on a two-day visa lead time. The visa itself remains a visit document and grants no work authorization or residency.
Costs, documents and how to file
GDRFA's published fees for the single-entry tourist visa:
- 30-day visa: 200 dirhams ($54), plus 5% VAT
- 60-day visa: 300 dirhams ($82), plus 5% VAT
- Security deposit: none
- In-country status change: add roughly 520 dirhams ($142) in processing and service charges
Required documents include a recent photo, a passport copy with at least six months' validity, a confirmed onward or return ticket and medical insurance valid in the UAE. Applicants from Iraq, Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan may be asked for a national ID from their country of origin.
To file directly, log into the GDRFA portal or DXB app using UAE Pass, select the 30-day or 60-day single-entry service, upload documents and pay. Travel agencies and hotels can submit on the applicant's behalf, often bundling service fees that push the total well above the government rate, a detail worth checking against other visa updates before booking.
