Thailand requires TDAC and 20,000 THB cash for tourists and nomads

Thailand’s entry card is now digital
Thailand’s Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) is now required for almost all non-Thai nationals entering by air, land or sea. The form replaced the old paper TM6 card and must be submitted online within 72 hours of arrival.
Immigration says TDAC isn't a visa. It is a separate arrival document and travelers are expected to keep the confirmation or QR code ready for inspection.
Tourists and nomads face cash checks
The bigger border issue is money. Immigration officers can ask visitors to show at least 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family in available funds and officials and embassy guidance still point to cash as the preferred proof.
That hits visa-exempt tourists, short-stay nomads and other frequent visitors most often. Long-term expats still have to meet the financial rules tied to their own visa class, but they also need TDAC for every entry.
What travelers should have ready
Complete TDAC before departure, then save the confirmation on your phone and print a copy if possible. The form is free, but third-party sites may try to charge service fees.
Carry clear proof of funds if you’re entering on a tourist or visa-exempt stay, especially with a one-way ticket or a longer itinerary. Read our full Thailand guide for the complete picture and check the latest nomad news before you fly.
