Thailand raises embassy visa fees in India

Thailand has raised visa, legalization and consular fees for Indian applicants at the Royal Thai Embassy in New Delhi, with the new rates taking effect April 27. The embassy said the changes reflect higher processing costs and currency swings.

The fee update doesn't touch Thailand’s 60-day visa-free entry for tourism or short business trips. It does apply to embassy-issued visas and related services filed in India, including at VFS centers in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Bengaluru.

Who pays more

The higher charges mainly hit longer stays, multiple entries and specialist visas used by expats, retirees, digital nomads and business travelers. A single-entry tourist visa now costs ₹3,000, up from ₹2,500, while a multiple-entry tourist visa rises to ₹13,500.

Other jumps are sharper. A non-immigrant single-entry visa is now ₹7,000; a three-year multiple-entry non-immigrant visa is ₹30,000; SMART visas rise to ₹1.2 lakh and the Long-Term Resident visa to ₹1.4 lakh. Document legalization now costs ₹1,400 and a 10-year Thai passport costs ₹4,000. A separate DTV route for remote workers remains part of Thailand’s visa menu, though applicants should check the fee before filing.

What applicants should do now

Applications submitted on or after April 27 are charged the new rates. Pre-approved visas issued before that date keep the old fee, but returned applications resubmitted later will be priced under the new schedule.

Applicants should budget for the embassy fee plus VFS charges, then confirm the latest amount before filing online or at a center. Read our full Thailand guide for the complete picture and check the latest visa updates.
