Northern Cyprus shifts 3 nationalities to digital entry portals for $40 fee

| Standard Single-Entry | $40 |

| Express Single-Entry | $80 |
| Standard Multiple-Entry | $80 |
| Express Multiple-Entry | $120 |
Northern Cyprus replaced its consular visa requirement with a mandatory digital entry portal for Armenian, Nigerian and Syrian citizens Aug. 24.
Moving from foreign missions to digital screening
Under the previous framework, travelers holding passports from Armenia, Nigeria and Syria had to apply for entry permits in person through foreign representative offices. The platform, run by the domestic immigration department, shifts security and eligibility reviews online before departure. Prime Minister Ünal Üstel announced the measure Aug. 23 and the rule took effect the next day upon publication in Official Gazette No. 154.
Standard approvals take up to 30 days, with extensions up to 60 days for additional administrative vetting, the Cyprus Mail reported. Remote workers, long-term visitors and prospective students from the three designated countries must file applications at least two months ahead of travel rather than relying on embassy queues.
Tiered pricing and border checkpoints
The online platform handles tourist, student, business, medical and official visa classes. Travelers from the United States, Britain, Canada and Australia aren't affected by the change and continue to receive entry permissions upon arrival.
The portal assesses fees based on processing speed and entry limits:
Single-entry e-visa: $40
Urgent single-entry e-visa: $80
Multiple-entry e-visa: $80
Urgent multiple-entry e-visa: $120
Holding an approved electronic visa doesn't guarantee entry at Ercan Airport or land crossing points, where border guards retain the authority to refuse admission. If technical outages hit the digital system, airport staff can issue physical visas if the interior ministry issues an emergency circular.
Anyone planning a remote stay or entering Northern Cyprus under the three affected nationalities must complete the portal application before arriving at departure gates, even if some overseas ministry web pages still display the older consular filing rules.
