Bangladesh Restores Full Visa Services for Indian Nationals

Bangladesh has officially resumed full visa and consular services for Indian nationals at all its missions in India, effective February 20, 2026. This move lifts a suspension that had been in place since December 2025 due to security concerns. The restoration covers all visa categories, including tourist, medical, business, and work visas, which were previously restricted or paused entirely.

The change follows the recent inauguration of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Missions in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Agartala, Guwahati, and Siliguri are now processing applications without the previous limitations. Officials are currently working to clear a backlog of approximately 37,000 applications, with a target to process these within 10 working days.

Who is affected

  • Digital Nomads and Remote Workers: Restored access to business and work visas reduces previous delays of up to three weeks, making short-term stays more predictable.
  • Tourists: The expansion of tourist visa processing, which fully ramped up on February 24, facilitates easier travel for heritage tours and visits to Cox’s Bazar.
  • Business Professionals: IT engineers and garment executives can now secure entry more reliably to manage regional operations.
  • Medical Travelers: Patients requiring specialized care across the border now have full access to necessary travel documents.

What to do next

To apply, travelers must use the online portal introduced in 2025 to upload photos and supporting documents, such as invitation letters or employment proof. Once the online portion is complete, applicants must book a biometric appointment via VFS; walk-ins are currently not permitted.

Processing times typically range from five to 14 days, though single-entry business visas are often cleared in as little as four days. While visas remain free for Indian nationals, standard service charges apply. Ensure your passport has at least six months of validity and two blank pages before starting the process. You can stay informed on further nomad news as regional ties continue to stabilize.
