Airwallex offers 10-second Wero payments in Europe

Wero moves eligible euro payments bank to bank in under 10 seconds, 24/7, while Airwallex settles them on the same calendar day.

Faster settlement, but no published fee comparison

Airwallex now offers Wero as a beta payment method for shoppers in Germany and Belgium. The account-to-account system runs through SEPA Instant rather than card networks or SWIFT.

Transactions can range from €0.50 to €100,000, with processing and settlement both in euros. Airwallex says account-to-account payments can carry lower processing costs, but its published Wero materials don’t provide merchant fees or a direct cost comparison with cards.

For a nomad-run business, the measurable budget effect is cash-flow timing rather than a documented fee cut: eligible sales settle on T+0, so businesses don’t wait multiple days for those funds.

France joins in October

Businesses registered in the European Union, U.K., U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and Japan can seek access. Merchants must contact an Airwallex account manager because Wero remains in beta.

Shopper availability is narrower. Germany and Belgium are live, while France is scheduled for October 2026. For nomads settling in Europe, the customer’s banking market determines whether Wero appears at checkout, not simply the merchant’s registration country.

Desktop shoppers scan a QR code with a supported banking app and confirm the transfer; the code expires after 10 minutes. Mobile shoppers are redirected to their banking app for authentication, with confirmation arriving once payment is completed.
