Why Jordan’s Three-Month Entry Stamp Matters for Digital Nomads

Jordan has simplified the process for remote workers and travelers looking to stay in the Kingdom for longer periods. Under a policy established by the Ministry of Interior, most foreign visitors entering through airports or land borders now receive a three-month temporary residency stamp directly in their passports upon arrival.

This change eliminates the previous requirement to visit a security center or police station to extend a one-month entry permit. By granting 90 days upfront, the government aims to encourage longer stays for tourism, investment, and medical travel. For digital nomads, this provides a seamless way to base themselves in hubs like Amman or Wadi Rum for a full quarter without the administrative headache of mid-trip paperwork.

Who is eligible

The automatic three-month residency applies to most international arrivals, including those using the Jordan Pass or standard tourist visas. It specifically benefits:

  • Digital nomads and slow travelers who want to explore the country while working remotely.
  • Medical tourists seeking extended treatment within Jordan's healthcare system.
  • Prospective investors looking for a multi-month window to scout local opportunities.

Note that this policy does not apply to individuals entering on specific work visas, which still follow separate labor regulations.

How to get the extension

There is no separate application or additional fee for the three-month residency beyond the standard visa costs. Travelers can obtain their entry visa through the official eVisa portal, on arrival at most border points, or by purchasing a Jordan Pass before travel.

When you pass through immigration, the officer will stamp your passport with the three-month duration. You should ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your date of entry. While there is no formal "nomad visa" yet, this extended entry period makes Jordan one of the more accessible Middle Eastern destinations for nomad news followers.
