Seasonal Split service starts this week

United Airlines begins seasonal nonstop flights between Newark and Split, Croatia, on April 30. The route will run three times a week through early September on a Boeing 767-300ER, with UA305 leaving Newark on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and returning from Split on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
It’s the first direct U.S.-Split connection. United already flies Newark to Dubrovnik, giving the airline up to 10 weekly flights to Croatia this summer.
Who gets the biggest lift
Tourists heading for the Dalmatian coast should see the clearest benefit. Split is a gateway to Hvar, Brač and Diocletian’s Palace and the nonstop service removes a connection for travelers coming from the U.S.
Digital nomads and expats who split time between the U.S. and Croatia may also find the route easier to use during peak summer months. Sample roundtrip fares were listed from $912 and the plane can carry about 167 to 203 passengers.
What to book before departure
Seats are available on United’s website now. Travelers still need the usual Schengen entry documents, including a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned exit date, proof of funds, an onward or return ticket and accommodation details.
U.S. citizens can stay in Croatia for 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa. ETIAS is set to kick in later in 2026 for visa-exempt travelers, with a €7 fee, so some nomads may want to keep an eye on that rollout.
