Marriott Bonvoy elites get up to 40,000 JAL FLY ON Points in new loyalty tie-up

Marriott Bonvoy elites now bank up to 40,000 JAL FLY ON Points a year without stepping on a plane, courtesy of a reciprocal loyalty tie-up that went live July 14, 2026.

The annual points grant, by tier

Linking a Marriott Bonvoy account to JAL Mileage Bank triggers an automatic yearly deposit of FLY ON Points, JAL's elite-qualifying currency. The allocation scales with Marriott status:

• Member (no status): 2,000 FOP
• Silver Elite: 5,000 FOP
• Gold Elite: 10,000 FOP
• Platinum Elite: 20,000 FOP
• Titanium Elite: 30,000 FOP
• Ambassador Elite: 40,000 FOP

Titanium and Ambassador members land at JAL Crystal or higher on the strength of the grant alone, JAL confirmed. Crystal unlocks Oneworld Ruby, priority check-in and preferred seating across the alliance.

Points also move both directions between programs: JMB miles convert to Bonvoy points at 4:3 and Bonvoy points convert to JMB miles at 3:1. On paid stays, members pick either currency per eligible booking.

What it saves a nomad chasing status

JAL Sapphire, the tier that carries Oneworld Sapphire and lounge access, normally requires 50,000 FOP in a calendar year. A Marriott Platinum sitting on 20,000 FOP annually needs only 30,000 more from actual flying, roughly six Tokyo-Bangkok round trips in economy instead of ten. A Titanium is two-thirds of the way there before booking a single ticket.

For nomads already parked in Marriott extended-stay brands across Asia, that shortcut is the meat of the deal. A Bonvoy Gold, earned at 25 nights, now doubles as a 10,000-FOP head start worth about $400 in avoided incremental JAL spend based on Sapphire's usual mileage-run economics.

Going the other way, JMB Sapphire holders get an instant Marriott Silver match, with a challenge to Gold after 10 eligible nights within six months of linking. For a JGC Premier flying JAL heavily out of Haneda, that pathway lands Marriott Platinum benefits, suite upgrades and lounge access included, without the usual 50-night grind.
