Indian nationals can skip visa fees for 30 day Malaysia stays through Dec. 31

Malaysia’s visa-free entry for Indian citizens runs through Dec. 31
Malaysia is keeping visa-free entry for Indian citizens in place through Dec. 31, 2026, allowing stays of up to 30 days for tourism, short business trips and transit. The Malaysian Immigration Department confirmed the extension on its website May 8.
The exemption covers Indian nationals who would otherwise need visas, but it doesn't apply to work or study. There’s no visa fee under the waiver.
Who the waiver helps
Indian tourists get the clearest benefit, with easier short-stay access to Malaysia. Business travelers can also use the waiver for meetings, but not for employment.
The repeated 30-day entries may also matter for some expats and digital nomads from India who base themselves in the region, though longer stays still require a visa or other permission. Malaysia is also streamlining regional hops for travelers moving between South Asia and Southeast Asia through visa updates.
What travelers need at the border
Visitors still need to complete the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card online at least 3 days before arrival. Immigration officers can ask for a passport valid for 6 months, a return or onward ticket, accommodation proof and evidence of sufficient funds.
The 30-day stay can’t be extended under this exemption. Travelers who want another 30 days generally need to leave and re-enter and incomplete paperwork has led to entry denials. Read our full Malaysia guide for the complete picture.
