Cambodia is moving toward a paperless border experience with the transition to its V-Pass digital entry system. This program replaces traditional physical passport stamps and QR code stickers with a digital pass sent directly to your email. While the pilot phase began in mid-2025, the system is now the standard for verification during your stay in the Kingdom.

The V-Pass functions as your official proof of legal entry. After clearing immigration, the system generates the pass using the details provided in your mandatory e-Arrival card. You are required to keep a digital copy on your phone or device to present for exit, re-entry, and internal checks by authorities.

Who is affected by the digital transition

The shift to digital verification applies to all travelers entering Cambodia, including:

• Tourists using e-Visas or visa-on-arrival services.

Remote workers benefit from faster processing times at major hubs like the recently opened Techo International Airport (KTI), but the system necessitates reliable access to a smartphone and email.

Practical steps for entry

To ensure a smooth arrival, you must complete the free e-Arrival card online within seven days before your flight. This single digital form covers immigration, customs, and health declarations. It is currently mandatory at all major international airports, including Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, and Sihanoukville.

While the V-Pass replaces the physical stamp, it does not change the underlying visa requirements. You still need to secure a visa through the official portal or on arrival, with fees typically ranging from $30 to $36.
