Ghana launches e-visa for 190 nationalities with 90 day stays for nomads

Ghana’s e-visa is live for most travelers
Ghana’s e-visa system is now the main route for most international visitors who need entry clearance, including tourists, business travelers, expats and digital nomads. The portal replaces traditional paper-heavy processes and accepts applications through the Ghana Immigration Service website.
The system covers more than 190 nationalities and sends approvals by email. It also runs pre-arrival checks against passenger data and crime databases, then accepts the digital authorization at ports of entry.
Who it affects
Visa-required travelers now have to apply online unless they’re from a visa-exempt country. ECOWAS nationals can still enter for 90 days, while some African passport holders get 60 days visa-free.
African applicants who do need the e-visa can apply without paying a fee, though screening still applies. For digital nomads and short-stay expats, the online tourist and business options offer stays of up to 90 days without the old visa-on-arrival process.
What to do next
Applicants create an account, fill out the form, upload passport details and pay online if a fee applies. ETA approvals can come back in 24 to 72 hours; full tourist and business visas usually take 3 to 5 business days.
Travelers should check eligibility before booking and keep a printed copy or digital approval ready at entry. Read our full Ghana guide for the complete picture and follow visa updates for more policy changes.
