Dominican Republic Signs 42 Tourism Deals in Miami

The program/policy

The Dominican Republic’s Tourism Ministry signed more than 42 commercial agreements at the DR Trade Show in Miami on April 7, pairing airlines, travel agencies, cruise lines and tour operators to push more bookings, more seats and more visibility for the country’s beaches, resorts and city breaks. It’s a promotion play, not a visa change and it doesn’t add a special entry process, though it does line up with existing flight growth and route expansion, which, surprisingly, is where the real impact shows up.

The event drew 1,200+ industry professionals from the US, Canada and Latin America and 100+ Dominican exhibitors represented about 72% of the country’s hotel inventory. That’s a lot of selling power in one room, honestly, with 2,000+ business meetings logged and participation up 30% from 2025.

Who it affects

Tourists get the clearest benefit. More packages, more promotions and better airline coordination can mean cheaper fares, stronger cruise bundles and easier access to Punta Cana, Santo Domingo, Santiago and emerging eco- and MICE-focused trips, so the win is mostly for travelers shopping for options.

Digital nomads and expats benefit indirectly, because better air links make the country easier to reach and easier to leave and that matters when you’re moving around often. Still, these agreements don’t change residency rules, taxes or entry requirements, so don’t expect any shortcut at immigration.

What to do

Book through partner airlines, agencies or tour operators if you want the deal flow these agreements are meant to create and watch for route additions already tied to 2026 capacity growth from carriers like Air Canada, Air Transat, Aeromexico and American Airlines. Fees and standard entry rules stay the same and the usual Dominican tourist card or air/sea fee still applies where relevant.
