Aruba opens digital registration for A2 naturalization tests July 1

Aruba opens digital sign-ups for the Dutch A2 naturalization test July 1
Aruba's Department of Education (DEA) will open online registration for the 2026 naturalization test at 8 a.m. on July 1, with slots closing the moment the cap is reached. Registration runs only through the digital form at ea.aw and a Gmail address is mandatory. Submissions sent by email or made at the front desk will be rejected.
This year's exam covers only the four Dutch language components at A2 level: reading, listening, writing and speaking. The Papiamento A2 test, Community Orientation and State Orientation aren't on offer in 2026, so applicants needing those must rely on prior certificates or exemptions. The first testing round is scheduled for September, the second for October, with exact dates to follow.
Who needs to register
The test is a gateway requirement for foreign nationals on the path to Dutch nationality through Aruba, which sits inside the Kingdom of the Netherlands and carries EU free-movement rights once granted. Long-term residents, spouses and partners of Dutch or Aruban citizens and workers with qualifying DIMAS status are the core group affected.
Short-stay digital nomads and tourists aren't in scope. Remote workers without long-term residency would first need to secure a qualifying permit through DIMAS before naturalization becomes an option.
What to prepare before July 1
Applicants must upload clear PDF scans through the DEA form. Incomplete files are rejected, which can mean losing a slot entirely.
Required documents:
- Valid passport photo page
- Aruba Civil Register extract (Censo, 5 florin), issued within the past six months
- Any prior exemption certificates or naturalization test declarations
- Papiamento or Dutch test certificates issued up to 2010, if applicable
- EPB-Labour Market or SPO diploma with final grade transcript, if applicable
The test fee isn't published in the DEA notice, but the broader naturalization procedure through the Governor's Office costs Afl. 2,368 for a single applicant, Afl. 3,023 for a joint application and Afl. 349 per co-naturalizing minor. The option procedure runs Afl. 501 single and Afl. 857 joint. Successful candidates must attend a naturalization ceremony in Aruba within one year of approval to take the oath and receive Dutch nationality.
