Where to apply: Also in Greece: visitors on a Schengen visa or visa-free entry could apply for the I.8 permit directly with a lease or property deed (Article 12(7)) to Greek consulate for the applicant's place of legal residence (in person, by email or registered letter); the consulate must reply within 10 days. Since Feb. 6, 2026 there is no in-country switch from a tourist stay or visa-free entry.
