New Zealand will retire its legacy visa forms and shift most visitor visa applications to its enhanced Immigration Online platform on Sept. 24.
Staggered timeline across August and September
The digital migration updates how tourists, short-term business visitors and prospective expats lodge their paperwork, though underlying visa criteria remain untouched. Group Visitor Visa and Tour Escort Visitor Visa filings already moved to the enhanced system on Aug. 24, Immigration New Zealand confirmed.
Starting Sept. 24, standard visitor visa filings will open exclusively on the new portal. Anyone submitting from that date forward must use the upgraded interface, the agency announced.
Hard deadlines for draft submissions
Travelers with unsubmitted applications in the legacy portal face a hard cut-off. Draft filings started before the transition may still be completed and submitted through Oct. 7, immigration officials reported.
On Oct. 8, system administrators will permanently delete all remaining legacy drafts. Applicants who miss the deadline must create a new profile and re-enter their information from scratch on the upgraded platform. Applications already lodged before the changeover will continue processing normally, with document uploads accessible until a final decision is made, the agency stated.
Filing requirements on the enhanced platform
Remote workers exploring entry options through the New Zealand guide or visiting for scouting trips will handle the entire submission lifecycle through a unified dashboard. Applicants must create an online account and provide:
A valid passport and compliant digital photograph
Proof of travel itineraries and accommodation
Bank statements demonstrating sufficient financial support
Supporting invitations or business documentation where relevant
Tracking visa decisions and answering requests for further information will run exclusively through the enhanced portal, the department reported.
