Malaysia extends Migrant Repatriation Programme 2.0 through May 31

Malaysia’s Migrant Repatriation Programme 2.0 now runs until 31 May 2027 in Peninsular Malaysia and Labuan. The amnesty-style program lets undocumented foreigners leave voluntarily without prosecution after paying set compounds, the Immigration Department said.
From 19 May 2025 to 29 April 2026, the program logged 254,186 registrations from 112 countries and collected about RM127 million in compounds, the department reported. It doesn't cover people who already missed earlier repatriation schemes, anyone blacklisted by Immigration or those with arrest warrants.
Who the extension affects
The extended window matters for overstaying tourists, expats and digital nomads whose passes expired or were canceled. It also covers foreign workers and visitors who stayed in Malaysia without valid permission, as long as they aren't barred from the scheme.
The compounds are RM500 for overstaying or entering without a valid pass and RM300 for violating pass conditions, such as working on a tourist pass. Foreign children under 18 are exempt from the compound, though they still need the RM20 Special Pass fee. nomad news
What affected travelers need to do
Eligible people must show up at an Immigration office or designated PRM 2.0 counter with a passport and any supporting documents. They then pay the compound and Special Pass fee before receiving paperwork that allows departure without prosecution.
Malaysia’s Immigration Department says family members, including some foreign spouses of Malaysians, still need to regularize their status through the Visa, Pass and Permit Division instead of using PRM 2.0. Read our full Malaysia guide for the complete picture.
