Egypt doubles 5-year multiple-entry visa stays to 180 days

Egypt doubled the maximum duration per visit on its five-year multiple-entry visa from 90 days to 180 days, formalizing the change under Minister of Interior Decision No. 1919 of 2025.

The shift to six-month entry limits

Holders of the long-term visa can remain in Egypt for up to six continuous months per visit rather than exiting every three months. The policy applies to travelers from roughly 180 eligible countries, primarily frequent visitors across Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region.

Standard single-entry tourist e-visas and 30-day visas on arrival remain unchanged; the extended duration applies strictly to the five-year multiple-entry category. The permit doesn

Tourist residence cards and entry terms

To support the extended stays, immigration authorities pair the entry stamp with a physical tourist residence card obtained at airports or local immigration offices upon arrival.

The card provides specific operational benefits:

• Remains active during international exits and re-entries within that six-month block

• Enables foreigners to establish utility accounts, secure residential leases and purchase local mobile contracts without commercial residency

Fees and action steps for travelers

The five-year multiple-entry visa costs $700, payable at Egyptian consulates abroad or through the national e-Visa portal during application. Applicants need a passport valid for at least six months beyond their arrival date, passport photos and proof of itinerary or accommodation.

Travelers with visas issued before Sept. 2025 that carry specific 90-day annotations must verify their status with an Egyptian consulate before attempting an uninterrupted six-month stay. Visas issued after the decree automatically qualify for the 180-day limit, removing the need for quarterly border runs.
