Chile opens 720-day business visa channel for Indian nationals

Chile launches 720-day Permiso de múltiples entradas para personas de negocios
Chile's Ministry of Foreign Affairs activated an expedited multiple-entry business visa for Indian citizens on May 13, 2026, valid for up to 720 days with stays capped at 90 days per visit. The category is filed online as "Permiso de múltiples entradas para personas de negocios" and is grounded in Article 27 of Law No. 21.325 and Supreme Decree No. 296/2022, according to advisories from Vialto Partners, Fragomen and Envoy Global citing the ministry's Consular Policy Division.
The permit covers business meetings, negotiations, conferences and short-term professional or technical services. Anything that crosses into employment under Chilean labor law still requires a separate short-term work authorization.
Who the permit covers
The visa is built for Indian professionals, technicians and company employees running commercial or project work in Chile. Regional staff based in India who shuttle in for training cycles, implementation phases or client visits are the clearest beneficiaries, because the two-year validity removes the per-trip application cycle.
Tourists aren't covered and continue under Chile's standard visitor rules. Remote workers are also outside the scope: Chile has no dedicated digital nomad visa and the Transitory Stay Visa remains the default route for foreign-client remote work. Using the business visa to live in Chile while working remotely for overseas employers falls outside permitted activities.
Long-term relocation still requires a residence and work permit, regardless of the 720-day validity window.
Filing the application
Applications go through Chile's online consular platform and are adjudicated by the consulate with jurisdiction over the applicant's place of residence, per Article 85 of Supreme Decree No. 296/2022. Required documents include:
Standard Chile business visa paperwork (passport, photo, completed online form)
A notarized sponsorship letter from either the Indian sending company or the Chilean host company
A clear statement on who covers travel and accommodation costs
The ministry hasn't published specific processing times or a fixed fee for the new category. Historic consular practice sets fees monthly based on exchange rates and collects payment only after approval, so applicants should confirm current costs with the relevant consulate before filing.
