Brazil keeps its $80.90 eVisa in place

Brazil now requires citizens of the U.S., Canada and Australia to get a $80.90 eVisa before short visits for tourism or business. The rule took effect April 10, 2025 and replaced the prior visa exemption for those nationalities.
The eVisa is valid for 10 years and allows multiple entries, with stays of up to 90 days at a time. It can be extended once for another 90 days.
Who the rule affects
The change hits short-term travelers most, including tourists and business visitors from the three countries. It also matters for expats and digital nomads who enter Brazil as visitors before switching to a longer-term status.
Applicants need a passport valid for at least 6 months, two blank pages, a passport-style photo and proof of payment. Minors need extra paperwork, including a birth certificate and parental authorization.
What travelers need to do
Applications are handled online through Brazil’s official portal and approval is emailed after processing, which usually takes a few days. Officials say travelers should apply at least 72 hours before departure, though longer lead times are safer.
The fee is nonrefundable and applicants should print the approved eVisa for travel. Read our full Brazil guide for the complete picture. For broader visa updates, keep an eye on changes that affect entry rules and stay lengths.
