Armenia will launch a unified residence portal for all filings Nov. 1

| Temporary | 105,000 AMD |
|---|---|
| Permanent | 140,000 AMD |
| Special | 150,000 AMD |
Armenia will replace its existing online booking and residence-filing portals with a single unified electronic platform Nov. 1, 2026, shifting all temporary and permanent residence applications into a centralized digital system.
Switch to unified electronic filing
Under amendments to the Law on Foreigners adopted in Feb. 2026, foreign nationals applying for residency will no longer use the migration.e-gov.am portal or the Early One booking application starting Nov. 1, 2026. Both legacy channels will shut down for residence-status services on that date, per the Migration and Citizenship Service.
The new portal will manage all stages of temporary and permanent residence proceedings, including initial application filings, automated notifications, inter-agency document transfers and status decisions. Foreign workers, students, entrepreneurs and family members of citizens must submit filings through this unified portal. Employment-based filings have operated through workpermit.am since Jan. 1, 2022, but government notices haven't yet clarified how that site will link with the new platform.
The change doesn't eliminate the physical leg of the procedure. While filings and case reviews move online, applicants must still appear in person to provide biometrics, including fingerprints and an electronic signature specimen, before collecting their physical residence cards.
Thresholds for entrepreneurs and remote workers
Armenia doesn't offer a standalone digital nomad visa, requiring location-independent professionals to qualify under existing legal grounds such as business activity, local employment or family ties. Nomads reviewing Armenia's residency rules through the self-employed or business route must meet specific statutory capital or revenue benchmarks.
Under the amended statute, applicants using entrepreneurial activity must satisfy at least one financial benchmark:
Invest at least AMD 2 million (about $5,160) in the charter capital of an Armenian commercial entity or qualifying securities.
Hold at least AMD 1 million (about $2,580) across dram-equivalent accounts as a registered individual entrepreneur.
Generate at least AMD 1 million in verified business turnover during the 60 days preceding the application date.
Status granted under the business track includes strict ongoing compliance checks. Authorities can revoke a residence card if investment capital drops below the legal minimum or if state databases record zero calculated taxes within 180 days of issuance without a statutory exemption.
Processing timelines and fees
Standard applications face a statutory decision window of 30 days once formally logged in the system. If an applicant's lawful stay expires while an application is pending, lawful status automatically extends until the migration agency issues a formal decision.
The state fee schedule remains fixed under the State Duty Law:
Temporary residence status, valid for up to one year, costs AMD 105,000 (about $270).
Permanent residence status, valid for five years, costs AMD 140,000 (about $360).
Special residence status, which issues a 10-year special passport, costs AMD 150,000 (about $385).
If an application contains errors or incomplete documentation, the portal will generate an electronic notice. Applicants have five days from notification to provide corrections. Missing the five-day deadline triggers an automatic suspension of the case and files inactive for one month after suspension are permanently closed.
Transition rules and unresolved procedures
Filings formally submitted before Nov. 1, 2026 will proceed under the prior administrative rules, the Migration and Citizenship Service confirmed. Current temporary, permanent and special residence documents remain valid until their stated expiration dates.
Foreigners with appointments booked for dates after Nov. 1, 2026 must use the new system, but authorities haven't published the replacement platform's web address or explained whether existing queue reservations will transfer automatically. Applicants holding post-November appointments should secure certified copies of all submissions, retain payment receipts and monitor migration service announcements for login instructions ahead of the cutoff.
